Get out and play this Father’s Day!
This weekend (and every weekend), show dad how much you care by getting him out for some fun.
Exercise is good for all of us and our immunity. But is so much more fun when done (safely) with family.
We are talking about a gift that is easy, cheap and fun but mostly it shows how much you care for dad.
And remember, play is also good for husbands, brothers, sons, and friends – everyone deserves to live a
longer, healthier, and happier life.
Before the BBQ consider playing his favorite sport. Does he like baseball? Play catch. Soccer or football?
Set up a game with the whole family. Consider also croquet, frisbee, tennis, biking or hiking – really
anything that gets him moving is good for his heart; not to mention his lungs, bones and mental health.
Meal Time!
If all this talk about exercise has made you hungry, we have you covered. Check out this week’s recipes
for ribs (no grill required!) and roasted potatoes. Easy and delicious. Simply add in a fresh salad and you
have an awesome Father’s Day meal done.
Vegetables and fruits should be part of every meal. They are loaded with vitamins, minerals,
antioxidants and fiber! Think of them as the gift that keeps on giving.
And BTW, potatoes are great for you. We are talking fresh potatoes cooked with the skin, in a way that
retains all of their goodness. Potatoes are loaded with potassium and vitamin C, B6 and folate; insoluble
fiber and resistant starch. Purple and red potatoes have polyphenols which are a type of antioxidant.
Potassium is key for heart health and hard to get enough of on a daily basis. Enjoy!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and happy Father’s Day to you and yours.
