Tip Card for VitaClay users to avoid rice sticking and get perfect texture every time.
Get Fluffy, Non-Sticky Rice Every Time in Your Clay Pot Cooker
1. Rinse the Rice Thoroughly
– Removes excess starch to prevent sticking.
– Rinse until water runs nearly clear.
2. Optional but Helpful: Soak the Rice
– Soaking improves texture and reduces sticking — especially helpful in clay cookers!
– Soak times by rice type:
• Sushi / Short-Grain – 20–30 minutes
• Basmati – 15–30 minutes
• Brown Rice – 30–60 minutes
• Jasmine / Long-Grain – No soaking needed (just rinse)
| Rice Type | Water Ratio |
|---|---|
| White Jasmine | 1.5 cups water |
| Basmati | 1.5–1.6 cups |
| Short-Grain | 1.2–1.4 cups |
| Brown Rice | 2–2.5 cups |
Adjust for your taste and rice brand. Add a little more water if rice is dry or sticks.
Lightly oil the bottom of the clay pot (optional but helpful).
Don’t leave rice sitting on “keep warm” too long.
Fluff the rice and serve right after cooking.
For crispy rice (like tahdig), reduce water slightly and let sit a bit longer!
Clay retains heat — so your rice keeps cooking even after power shuts off.
Let it rest 5–10 minutes after cooking, then fluff and enjoy!
