Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal

Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal

There’s nothing like hot, fresh oatmeal from a slow cooker. Even steel-cut oats become creamy and smooth. Most slow cookers finish cooking the oatmeal within a few hours, however, so if you want it fresh you have to wake up at midnight to start it. With the Vitaclay® Multicooker or Pro, you can pre-program the machine to start at any time and enjoy fresh, hot, smooth oatmeal as soon as you wake up.

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 40 min or 1 hour less

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats, thick-cut or steel-cut oats
  • 2 tablespoons light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, to your taste
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2-1/2 cups water, or a combination of water and apple juice
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium-sized apple or pear: peeled, cored and chopped

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients into your VitaClay® Multicooker or Pro.
  2. Follow the pre-set timer instructions to set the clock and timer.
  3. Set the machine to begin cooking 1 to 2 hours prior to your wake-up time.
  4. Set the cooker’s timer to “slow cooking” for 30 minutes.
  5. In the morning, stir the oatmeal, scoop into a bowl, served with milk or cream if desired.
