There’s nothing like hot, fresh oatmeal from a slow cooker. Even steel-cut oats become creamy and smooth. Most slow cookers finish cooking the oatmeal within a few hours, however, so if you want it fresh you have to wake up at midnight to start it. With the Vitaclay® Multicooker or Pro, you can pre-program the machine to start at any time and enjoy fresh, hot, smooth oatmeal as soon as you wake up.

Cook time: 40 min or 1 hour less
Ingredients:
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats, thick-cut or steel-cut oats
2 tablespoons light or dark brown sugar
1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, to your taste
Pinch of salt
2-1/2 cups water, or a combination of water and apple juice
1-1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 medium-sized apple or pear: peeled, cored and chopped
Directions:
Combine all ingredients into your VitaClay® Multicooker or Pro.
Follow the pre-set timer instructions to set the clock and timer.
Set the machine to begin cooking 1 to 2 hours prior to your wake-up time.
Set the cooker’s timer to “slow cooking” for 30 minutes.
In the morning, stir the oatmeal, scoop into a bowl, served with milk or cream if desired.
