VitaClay Best Crockpot Carnitas

  • 1 3-5 lb Pork Butt/Shoulder Roast
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups vegetable oil


  1. Trim roast and slice into 1/4 inch thick pieces. Put in your Claypot.
  2. Combine spices and toss into your Claypot.
  3. Add in the vegetable oil. Toss together using hands until evenly coated with spice and oil goodness.
  4. Cook on stew for 2-3 hours or until the meat can easily be shredded with a fork.
