STEAMED BLUE CRABS

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces beer
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 dozen large blue crabs (or the count fits in your pot)
  • ½ cup Chesapeake-style crab seasoning, preferably Old Bay
Directions:
1. In your large VitaClay pot or stockpot, add water, beer, vinegar and place a steam rack on the bottom of your clay pot. Put a layer of crabs on the rack in the pot. Sprinkle with a generous amount of seasoning, then repeat with another layer, and another, until all crabs are in the pot (and well seasoned).
2. Cover your cooker. Set on Fast or Stew to cook for 25-30 minutes until the crabs are bright red, Remove the crabs with tongs and serve.
(note: add 1 cup water or beer and vinegar combined (for VM7800-5)
