VitaClay Mulled Hot Cider

VitaClay Mulled Hot Cider

Suitable for any VitaClay models: VS7600, VF7700, VM7800, VM7900

Hot apple cider is warm, comforting and full of delicious holiday spices. Perhaps best of all, it fills your home with a warm, festive, holiday scent that is so inviting and fun for a holiday party or cozy evening at home.

This recipe can be made in your VitaClay pot and kept on warm for hours, so you can ladle some into a cup and be warm any time!

The spices in hot spiced cider are nutritious and help to boost your immune system while suppressing your glycemic load. So there's more than a few things to love about this hot, holiday drink!

I love a good hot cider on a chilly fall or winter evening and this one is perfect. Make sure you add this to your favorites.  I sometimes add a shot of rum for a warm and cozy cocktail. It’s great for holiday parties, too.

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups apple juice
  • 3 cups cranberry juice
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 cup cranberries
  • 1/2 orange, thinly sliced with peel
  • 1/2 green apple sliced
  • about 3 thin slices of fresh ginger
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 small lemon thinly sliced with peel
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

To Prepare:

  1. Pour the juices into your VitaClay cooker. Add the cranberries, orange slices, apple slices, lemon slices, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and all spice. Stir to combine.
  2. Cover and cook on the “soup,” "slow," or "low" setting for 2-2 ½  hours. The longer it cooks the more flavor you get. Allow the cooker to rest on warm after cooking and serve from it all day long!
  3. Serve in mugs with a bit of fruit and a cinnamon stick.

*Add a shot of rum per glass for a warm and cozy cocktail.
