Bored of the usual raw apples after a meal? Make a huge hit to your family dinner with this succulent fruity apple crisp perfect for dessert! This is a great treat for everybody and the kids absolutely will enjoy it! What I love about this recipe is that you can just toss everything in the slow cooker and let it do the job for you so you can do other preps while you wait. This is absolutely my all-time favorite!
INGREDIENTS:
TOPPING
• 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup rolled oats
• 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
• 1/2 cup butter (melted)
FILLING
• 3 pounds baking apples (cored, peeled, and in large dice)
• 2 cups fresh cranberries
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon lemon juice
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Stir together flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl. Add melted butter, and stir until the butter is well incorporated, and the mixture is crumbly. Set aside.
2. Generously grease your slow cooker.
3. In a large bowl, toss apples, cranberries, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice together. Spread mixture in even layer. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
4. Place a thin cotton towel over the top of the slow cooker. Cover with the lid. Cover and cook on fast/stew for 30 - 40 minutes
5. Remove the lid and towel. Cook, uncovered until the topping is set and firm, crisp and the fruit is tender. Let the crisp cool at least 15 minutes, uncovered, before serving.
