Barbeque Pulled Pork Sandwiches for Game Day

Barbeque Pulled Pork Sandwiches for Game Day

The Superbowl is a big deal to a lot of people. Even if your team isn’t playing, it’s a big, fun party day when people can get together. The weather might be warm enough in some places to cook out, but for the rest of us, we need some good recipes that can be made indoors but still feel festive, fun and outdoorsy.

Generally there are a lot of appetizers, dips and chips, and snack foods. But what if you want a main dish that everybody can appreciate? You could always order pizza, but to really impress your guests, try this super easy, delicious pulled pork sandwich recipe that you can easily prepare in your VitaClay slow cooker that morning.

Now, there are a lot of recipes for pulled pork out there. Me, I love barbecue sauce and jump at any chance to use it. Most people have their own favorite bottled barbecue sauce, and others make their own…either way, barbecue sauce makes pulled pork so much easier. So here’s the quick and dirty on an easy, super yummy pulled pork sandwich recipe. Because really: the guys are going to be watching the game. Give them some meat and some bread and they’ll be happy.

Ingredients (Superbowl Special):

  • Pork Roast (I like shoulder), 3-4lb
  • ¼ cup broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Turmeric powder (because I put it on everything)
  • Lots of barbecue sauce
  • Thinly sliced red onions
Directions (Superbowl Special):
  1. Add the broth to the bottom of the VitaClay pot
  2. Remove any string and place roast into VitaClay cooker
  3. Sprinkle roast with salt, pepper and turmeric
  4. Close, Seal and cook on “stew” setting for 2-3 hours
  5. Use 2 forks to shred the cooked meat, and mix well with lots of barbecue sauce
  6. Keep on “warm” until it’s time to serve—the longer the better!
  7. Serve over your favorite bread with sliced red onions
