While tagines are sometimes referred to “the original slow cookers,” there is an electric terra cotta clay-pot slow cooker on the market. The VitaClay Smart Multicooker has a Zisha clay lining (made of the same clay used for Chinese tea pots and clay cooking vessels for more than 2,000 years). Its double lid encourages steam production, which allows food to cook in its own moisture and preserve nutrients, minerals and vitamins without added fats. The VitaClay also comes with a cookbook that includes recipes such as Moroccan Chicken Tagine with Preserved Lemons and Moroccan Fish Tagine with Aromatic Spices.
