2 Yummy, Healthy Slow Cooked Steal Cut Oat Recipes (Oatmeal)

Oatmeal is a great healthy way to start your day. We are always looking to try new flavors we there is variety and we don't get bored eating the same thing every day. It's also a simple meal to prepare especially when using your VitaClay slow cooker. Put your ingredients in the cooker set the time and by the time you are ready for breakfast your oatmeal is ready. Healthy, easy, and tasty, what more could you ask for? Here are two recipes to try...

German Chocolate Oatmeal

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 6 cups water
  • 13.5 oz coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Toppings:
  • Brown Sugar
  • Sweetened, shredded coconut
  • Pecans, chopped
To Prepare:
  1. Lightly coat your pot with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine oats, water, coconut milk and cocoa powder. Mix well.
  3. Transfer to your Vitaclay slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on the "soup" setting for about 1 hour until oats are tender.
  5. Serve and top with brown sugar, pecans and shredded coconut.

Banana Bread Oatmeal

Ingredients:

  • 1 cups steal cut oats
  • 6 cups water
  • 12oz evaporated milk (can use skim)
  • 1 cup mashed banana
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Toppings:
  • Brown Sugar
  • sliced Bananas
  • Chopped Walnuts
To Prepare:
  1. Lightly coat you pot with olive oil or cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine oats, water, milk, banana, cinnamon, and nutmeg. mix well.
  3. Transfer to your VitaClay slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on the "soup" setting for 1 hour until the oats are tender.
  5. Serve and top with brown sugar, sliced banana and chopped walnuts.
