Beer-soaked bratwursts go with football season, they’re perfect fare for watching the Big Game with friends. This recipe employs an outdoor grill to brown the outside of the sausages; you can use an indoor broiler or saute pan. If you like. We like lots of fixings, such as sauerkraut, a variety of mustards, chopped onions, and chopped tomatoes. If you make a favorite potato salad, you’ll have a feast.

Ingredients:

6 to 8 precooked bratwurst sausages

½ cup beer of your choice

¾ cup water

½ medium-size white onion, sliced

Directions:

  1. Prepare a hot fire in your charcoal grill, or preheat a gas grill or an oven broiler. Grill or broil the brats until brown all over. With a knife, split each brat down one side.
  2. Place the beer, water, and onion slices in your VitaClay slow cooker. Turn to “Stew” for 10 -15 minutes to heat through.
  3. Add the brats, cover your VitaClay fast cooker (VM7900 or VF7700), and Set on “Stew” to simmer for 20 - 30 minutes.
  4. Just before serving, remove the brats from their hot bath and place back onto the grill or under the broiler for 1 minute.
