Paleo Slow Cooked Whole Roast Chicken Crock Pot Recipe in 2 hours

Chicken dishes are always delicious no wonder everybody love them unless of course you’re vegetarian. This recipe will give you another idea on just how to add another flavor to your roast chicken in a surprisingly unique manner using our slow cooker.

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole organic chicken
  • 1 cup water**
  • 4 medium sized potatoes cut in cubes
  • 1 large onion that is loosely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 2 teaspoons organic paprika
  • ½ teaspoon organic garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoon Celtic salt
  • 1 teaspoon organic white pepper
  •  ½ teaspoon freshly ground organic black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon organic cayenne pepper
Directions:
  1. In a small bowl make sure to combine all the spices and set aside.
  2. Turn to the chicken and remove the giblets.
  3. Add 1 cup water**. Put your onions in the bottom of your slow cooker crock pot this prevents chicken from sticking on the bottom as well as adding moisture to the chicken.
  4. You can now add chicken, some water and potatoes to the slow cooker crock pot.
  5. Use the spices to rub on all the chicken sides.
  6. Cook on Soup or Stew setting for 2 hours in a Vita Clay Crock Pot slow cooker.
  7. Confirm your chicken is cooked thoroughly then you can serve (remember the chicken bones and juices can be used to prepare bone broth therefore make use of them)

** You may only need 1/2 cup water. However, you can start with 1 cup then take some extra liquid out in the middle of cooking. Just be sure to alway have 1/2 or 1 cup clear liquid on the bottom of pot to avoid burning foods.

Note: This recipe is ideal to cook with model VM7900-8 or VF7700-8. If you have VM7800-5, please add 3 cups extra liquid on Slow Setting to cook for 2 hours only,  on Fast/Steam setting to cook for 1-1.5 hours.
